Purpose

censhare Product Information Management (PIM) can be configured according to a Product classification system. Product classification systems are standardized data models that allow the exchange of product metadata between different platforms, suppliers, vendors. censhare supports the Global Standards One (GS1) classifications. This article describes how to set up the server actions to import a GS1 classification.

Context

Product classifications are imported in the censhare Admin-Client.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this configuration.

Introduction

To use the censhare Product Information Management (PIM) with the GPC/GS1 product classification system, you have to import the desired GPC classification into censhare. For this purpose, the "Import GPC data" server action is available. This server action has to be enabled in the censhare Admin Client. The "Import GPC data" server action can be used in the censhare Admin Client and in the censhare Client. When you set up the server actions, ensure that the users who execute them have access to the censhare Admin Client or censhare Client, respectively.

Fore more information about the GPC/GS1 product classification system, see Standard product classification - Key concepts.

A GPC data import does not import product data. No products or product items are added to your PIM system. To import product data, you have to setup a separate server action using the censhare PIM connector.

Configure GPC/GS1 import action for censhare Client and censhare Admin-Client

Note: This configuration is done in the censhare Admin-Client.

To configure this server action, open the censhare Admin-Client and proceed as follows:

  1. In the directory Configuration/Modules/Product classification/, open the Import GPC data entry.

  2. If you want to setup this action on a dedicated server, select the desired server name from the dropdown list.

This option is only relevant if you run censhare in a clustered setup. If your system runs on a single server or in a master/remote setup, ignore this field.

  3. Check the "Enabled" check box in the "General setup" section.

  4. To restrict the "Import GPC" data action to a role, click (plus) in the Permissions only defined for default roles area. You can add several roles here. Only users that are assigned to one of the selected roles can execute the action in their censhare Client.

  5. To restrict the Import GPC data action to either the censhare Client or the censhare Admin-Client, click the (plus) in the Permissions only defined for client types area and select the respective client.

The censhare Web option is not applicable for this action.

  6. To restrict the Import GPC data action to users with dedicated permissions, click the "+" button in the Permissions only defined for permission key area and select the desired permission key. You can add multiple permission keys here.

  7. Optionally, you can define keyboard shortcuts to execute this action.

  8. Click OK to save your configuration.

  9. Perform Update server configuration to enable your configuration on the server.

  10. If your system runs in a master/remote setup, perform Synchronize remote servers to push the configuration to the remote servers.

Result

The server action "Import GPC data" action is available in the censhare Client and censhare Admin-Client. Users can import product classifications.
