Marker Behavior and Zoom Settings

Overview

In product versions prior to 2023.1, the zoom level of the layout was retained when adding a new marker. However, starting from version 2023.1 and above, the system automatically zooms out and centers the new marker for better visibility and usability.

Steps to Replicate Current Behavior

1. Zoom in on a spread.

2. Create a marker.

3. Observe that the system zooms out and centers the marker in the layout.

Reason for the Change:

The current behavior, where the system automatically zooms out and positions the new marker at the center of the layout, was intentionally introduced to enhance usability. In earlier versions, when markers were added in a zoomed-in state, there was a possibility that the marker would appear outside the visible area, leading to confusion and usability challenges.

1. Improved Visibility:
   The new behavior ensures that users can immediately see the newly added marker without needing to pan or search for it within the layout.

2. User Experience:
   Automatically centering the marker minimizes workflow disruptions by ensuring its placement is always clear and immediately visible.
