Users Cannot Delete Stored Searches

Overview

Stored searches in the system are user-specific and can sometimes present challenges when attempting to delete them. This article outlines common reasons for such issues and provides step-by-step troubleshooting and resolution methods.

Symptoms

  • Users are unable to delete their stored searches.

  • An error message, such as "No permission for this action," may appear.

  • The issue occurs only for specific users or stored searches.

Possible Causes

  1. Permission Issues:
The user may lack the necessary permissions to delete the stored search.

  2. Client-Side Cache:
Residual data cache in the user's local "censhare" folder may cause this issue.

  3. Master Data Settings:
Stored searches may be saved in the system's master data, requiring administrative access for deletion.

Resolution Steps

Option 1: Clear Local Cache

  1. Navigate to the user's "censhare" folder on their local machine.

  2. Delete all files except for the hosts.xml file.

  3. Restart the Censhare client and attempt to delete the stored search again.

Option 2: Delete Stored Searches via Admin Client

  1. Log in to the Admin Client.

  2. Navigate to Masterdata -> User Settings.

  3. Search for the specific stored search by name.

  4. Delete the stored search directly from the master data.
